WARREN, Maine — A 2-year-old pit bull named Molly reported missing following the vandalism of a home here Saturday night was returned safely to her owner Monday, according to police.
Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison said Monday that the department is investigating the vandalism which appears to be connected to some type of retaliation or vengeance, though she would not elaborate.
The sheriff said someone entered the home on Oyster River Road at about 9 p.m. Saturday and trashed the place.
Televisions, a microwave oven, a refrigerator and a coffee maker were among the many items smashed, she said.
The interior of the home also was badly damaged.
Someone spotted the pit bull running around in the area on Monday and picked it up to take it to the local animal shelter, Dennison said. Before bringing the animal to the shelter, however, the person learned about the dog being reported missing and returned Molly to the owner, the sheriff said.
