WESTBROOK, Maine — Police made two burglary arrests in separate cases overnight.

The series of incidents that led to the arrests began shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, when Westbrook police were called to look into a report of a burglary in progress to a motor vehicle on Brook Road.

A suspect matching the description provided by witnesses was quickly located nearby and taken into custody, Nugent said.

Arrested in connection with that incident was John R. Conley, 35, of Westbrook, who was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and possession of burglar’s tools, Nugent said.

A number of stolen items were recovered during the arrest, he said.

Conley is on probation for burglary, and additional charges may result as the investigation develops, Nugent said.

The second arrest happened at about 4:15 a.m. Monday, Nugent said.

Officers investigating a burglary on Teri Circle located and arrested Jeremy A. Lester, 45, of South Portland. He was charged with felony burglary as well as with criminal mischief.

Conley and Lester were taken to Cumberland County Jail, Nugent said.
