WATERVILLE, Maine — A local man was arrested Tuesday afternoon less than an hour after he robbed a Hannaford pharmacy of oxycodone, police said.
Brian Monk, 32, is facing charges of robbery, a Class B felony and oxycodone possession, a Class C felony, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
Waterville officers were dispatched to the Hannaford on Kennedy Memorial Drive at 3:10 p.m. when the robbery was reported.
Rumsey said Monk allegedly handed pharmacy employees a threatening note demanding drugs, and fled with an undisclosed amount of oxycodone.
Pharmacy employees recognized Monk as a prior customer, and he was not wearing any clothing that concealed his face, Rumsey said.
About a half-hour after the robbery was reported, police went to a Hart Street address where Monk was alleged to have been staying, and he was found in a living space in the basement.
Hart was taken into custody and the stolen drugs were recovered. He was brought to the Kennebec County Jail, where bail was set at $4,000.
Hart is due to appear in court on Nov. 12.
