BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners scored two second-half goals to beat the Husson University Eagles 2-0 in men’s soccer action Saturday night.
Tom Samson scored on a scramble in front of the net in the 53rd minute and Jonathan Reeks headed a ball into the corner two minutes later to spark the Mariners of Castine.
Marshall Spear made five saves for MMA (6-4-1, 3-0-1 NAC) while Brian Potter had seven for Husson (6-5, 3-1).
UMPI 1, UMM 0
At Presque Isle on Saturday, Chris Daly connected on a crossing pass from Dan Swallow as the Owls knocked off the Clippers.
The University of Maine-Machias had beaten UMaine-Presque Isle 7-0 earlier this season.
Caleb Bragg-Grady came up with 11 saves for the Owls (2-8-1).
Everett Senetar made eight saves for the Clippers (4-5).
Johnson State 4, UMF 2
At Farmington on Saturday, the Badgers scored four goals in a span of 13 minutes to defeat the Beavers.
Keegan Hanlon, Drew Steady, Nihad Basic and Cory Chase scored for Johnson State (3-6-1). Alex Pakatar made five saves.
Ryan Fairbanks scored twice for 1-8-1 UMaine-Farmington and Jordan Luks assisted on both goals. Ronie Morales made nine saves.
Thomas 2, Lyndon 1
At Waterville on Saturday, Max Hansson scored in the 86th minute to lift Thomas by Lyndon State.
Dakota Duplissie scored the first goal for Thomas at the 24th minute (6-2-2, 3-0-1 NAC).
Lyndon (4-7, 0-4 NAC) tied it in the final few minutes of the half, when Youl Herjok took a free kick from the midfield line and it skipped off the header attempt by Lukas Bohman and past goalkeeper Winston Trott.

Husson 3, MMA 2
At Bangor on Saturday, Mollie Roy’s goal with a minute remaining broke a 2-2 tie to give Husson the win.
Roy hit a hard, rising shot from near the end line about 20 yards out that curved and beat Maine Maritime goalkeeper Kelsie Hilton in the 89th minute. The game-winner came after MMA’s Victoria Cooper had tied the contest on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.
Leah Hibbad also scored for Husson (6-4, 3-1 NAC) and goalie Jess Poulin made four saves.
Morgan Libby scored MMA’s first goal and Hilton finished with 14 saves for the Mariners (3-7, 1-3).
Maine 0, UNH 0 (2OT)
At Orono on Sunday, goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe made 13 saves to help Maine (3-6-3, 1-0-2 America East) tie New Hampshire (4-7-1, 1-1-1).
Mimi Borkan made six saves for UNH.
UMF 3, Johnson St. 1
At Farmington on Saturday, UMaine-Farmington took advantage of free-kick opportunities to beat Johnson State.
Alexandra Crocker scored the first UMF goal at the 16th minute off a rebound from a Katie Clark free kick.
Kylie Aither tied it for Johnson at the 57th minute, but UMF took the lead at the 75th minute when Jennifer Denault booted in a rebound following a Sara Quimby free kick. Bridget Humphrey added a goal for UMF and Sam Hatch made three saves.
Amber McCullock made 12 saves for Johnson State.
Field Hockey
Maine 3, Sacred Heart 1
At Burlington, Vermont, Danielle Aviani’s goal in the 19th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Black Bears beat the Pioneers on Saturday.
Annabelle Hamilton and Holly Stewart tallied a goal each for the University of Maine (5-6, 1-0 America East), while Becca Paradee provided two assists and Nicole Sevey added one. Emily Corbett made two saves to earn the win.
Lauren Harrison scored for 5-6 Sacred Heart. Mary Altepeter made four saves.
UMF 5, Colby-Sawyer 0
At Farmington on Saturday, Carly Raymond logged a goal and an assist and Patricia Smith made four saves as the Beavers shut out the Chargers.
Sarita Crandall, Rebecca Young, Mara Balboni and Andrea Beaulieu scored a goal apiece for the University of Maine-Farmington.
Jodi Dumayne made six saves for Colby-Sawyer.
Husson 5, Castleton 0
At Bangor on Saturday night, five different players scored a goal to help the Eagles roll by Castleton State.
Taylor Shaw, Hanna Jordan and Taylor Lovley each scored a first-half goal while Libby Kain and Sarah Eastman each added a goal in the second half.
Kayla Royer added an assist and Abby Greenleaf made eight saves for Husson (4-5, 2-0 NAC) and Jess Galatioto made nine for Castleton (0-7, 0-2).
