New medical practice

BREWER — Eastern Maine Medical Center announced that it has opened a new practice, EMMC Rheumatology Specialists, on Level 3 of the Lafayette Family Cancer Center. Two new providers, DR. Crisostomo Rodrigo Baliog Jr. and Dr. Priyanka Jalandhara are experts in caring for patients with rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, lupus, scleroderma and many other connective tissue disorders, officials said.

Benefit Masquerade Ball

ORONO — TeamTessa, a local nonprofit that provides funding for cancer patients for items not otherwise covered by insurance, will hold its second annual Masquerade Ball for those age 18 and up 5-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Penobscot Valley Country Club. Masquerade masks with formal dress or full costume is the expected attire — and will be judged for prizes. The event also will feature a Thriller dance-off. Proceeds from the event will be granted back to families in Hancock, Penobscot and Washington counties who are battling cancer.

The cost of tickets are $45, $80 couple, and include a full dinner. Tickets are available at teamtessa.org.
