ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Maine State Police have arrested a wanted Rhode Island man who allegedly fled from troopers on Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Brian Harris said police went to arrest Jean Rodriguez, 20, on a criminal trespass charge after he had been seen in an abandoned house on Sewell Street.
Harris said Rodriguez was able to flee from police and into the woods, resulting in an air and ground search of the area.
At approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday, police located Rodriguez walking on Davis Street in Island Falls and he was taken into custody without incident, the sergeant said.
Rodriguez was charged with criminal trespass, failing to provide a correct name, theft and escape and transported to the Aroostook County Jail, Harris said. The investigation into his entry into the abandoned house continues, and further charges are possible.
State police were assisted by the Maine Warden Service, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Forestry Service.
