AUBURN, Maine — Maine State Police are seeking an Aroostook County man who fled from troopers late Monday night.
Don Hanson, 33, of Westfield had led troopers on a short pursuit along the Maine Turnpike, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Trooper Jason Wing had pulled Hanson over at Mile 63, McCausland said. While Wing was interviewing a passenger outside the vehicle, Hanson took off in the car heading north, he said.
Hanson’s Ford Focus was later discovered near Hotel Road in Auburn being driven by one of Hanson’s passengers after police had ended the chase, McCausland said.
Hanson had allegedly fled into the woods along Route 122 earlier, and Wing discovered and recovered what are believed to be bath salts that were tossed out of the vehicle.
Hanson is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds, and he has brown hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be in the Lewiston-Auburn area and may be heading back to Aroostook County, McCausland said.
