BANGOR, Maine — Adrienne O’Donnell scored off an assist from Kimmy Ganong only 3:50 into the contest on Wednesday, sparking Bowdoin College of Brunswick to a 3-0 field hockey victory over Husson University at Boucher Field.
Ganong and Liz Znamierowski tallied a goal each for the 7-1 Polar Bears, who received two assists from Rachel Kennedy. Hannah Gartner made one save.
Kaitlin Dolloff racked up 11 saves for the Eagles, who slipped to 4-6.
Saint Joseph’s 2, Thomas 0
At Waterville, Theresa Hendrix scored off a pass from Meghan Williams with only 3:05 elapsed in the first half, leading the Monks to the win.
Kelsey Dumond provided an unassisted goal for Saint Joseph’s of Standish (9-1, 3-0 North Atlantic Conference). Emma Astbury made one save.
Abbie Charrier made five stops for Thomas College (4-9, 1-1 NAC).
Football
Colorado’s MacIntyre fined
The Pac-12 Conference slapped Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre with a $10,000 fine and a reprimand on Tuesday for inappropriate conduct toward the officials after the Buffaloes’ 36-31 loss to Oregon State.
MacIntyre chased down the game officials on the field Saturday and shouted at them before security stepped in.
“The public postgame conduct by Colorado head football coach Mike MacIntyre was completely unacceptable,” Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said. “Such misconduct violates conference policy and this behavior will not be tolerated.”
Police called to Florida practice
University of Florida police were called to Bel Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida, on Monday night after Gators third-string quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg and defensive lineman Gerald Willis were involved in an altercation.
According to the University Police log, there was a reported battery, but the the case was listed as “complaint withdrawal.” Mornhinweg and Willis got into a fight outside the stadium, according to multiple reports, but it’s not clear what precipitated the confrontation.
It’s the second incident involving a Florida quarterback in the past few days. Florida freshman Treon Harris was suspended from team activities on Monday after he was accused of secually assaulting a female student early Sunday morning.
UK’s Tubman suspended
Kentucky freshman defensive end Lloyd Tubman was suspended from the team after his arrest by Lexington/Fayette County police on a first-degree rape charge, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that Tubman is incarcerated in the Fayette County Detention Center. He is listed as a current inmate with his offense designated as “rape 1st.” Kentucky.com reported that Tubman is accused of sexually assaulting a female student last Thursday morning in a residence hall.
The highly recruited freshman from Louisville has no tackles in five games this season for the Wildcats.
