The federal government has agreed to extend Cape Air’s contract another four years to provide flights from municipal airports in Augusta and Rockland to Boston’s Logan Airport.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree announced Thursday that the renewed agreement with the Department of Transportation starts Nov. 1, subsidizing Cape Air’s flights from the two airports to the tune of $2 million at each airport for the next four years.

In Augusta, Cape Air will provide 21 weekly round trips November to May, with 28 weekly round trips for the rest of the year. Rockland will have 21 weekly round trips trips through the winter, stepping up to 28 in the spring, 42 in the summer and 28 in the fall.

All of the flights will be serviced by Cessna 402 aircraft, which can fit nine passengers.
