Hunting has long been a tradition in Maine. With its vast woodlands and its pioneering history, Maine has attracted sports from near and far to harvest its bounty in the fall. Deer, moose, duck, geese, pheasant, woodcock, grouse and bear are some of the animals that lure hunters into the Maine woods.
But hunting isn’t just about the quarry. It’s also an experience that may include family or friends you see once a year, a cabin in the woods, a favorite sporting camp or guide, dogs trained to hunt, passing traditions on from one generation to the next. Hunting is the latest technology or gadget, “lucky” hats or clothes, a favorite spot in the woods. It is cultural as much as physical.
Bangor Daily News would like to see photos from your hunting experience in Maine so that we can share them in a slideshow online. It’s simple. Please send your photos to Community Editor Julie Harris at jharris@bangordailynews.com. Include where it was taken, who the people are in the photo and where they are from, the date it was taken and who took the photo.
