Basketball tryouts
BANGOR — Bangor travel basketball team tryouts will be held for boys and girls in grades seven and eight, 8:30-9 a.m. check-in, with tryouts at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at Bangor High School; and grades five and six, 9:30-10 a.m. check-in, with tryouts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Bangor High School. The cost is $75 per person.

Learn to Skate
BANGOR — The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its Learn to Skate program and free-style skate lessons for children age 4 and up.
Session I will being on Sunday, Nov. 9. Times and fees vary based on the program chosen.
• Learn to Skate, 4:10-5:10 p.m. $80 Bangor residents, $85 others. The program will offer a half-hour of instruction and a half-hour of supervised free skating. However, the first hour
will be limited to students in Learn to Skate Levels 1-3. The first hour will also include an adult Learn to Skate class.
• Basic level 4-8 and free-style skate levels 4-6, 5:20-6:20 p.m. $95 Bangor residents, $100 others. The lessons will last for a half-hour with a half-hour of free skating practice. Students who wish to compete and test at basic levels 4-8 and free-style skate 1-6 must be members of the United States Figure Skating Association. Program fee includes association membership. There is obligation to compete.
• Free-style skate level 4-6, $95 Bangor residents, $100 others; and synchronized team skating, $10 Bangor residents, $15 others, 6:20-7:20 p.m. This program is for students in the free-style skate 4-6, synchronized team skating and practice for the advanced skaters.

Baseball tryouts
BREWER — Sluggers will hold AAU baseball tryouts for children ages 8 through 12 6-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 3-4, and for children ages 13 through 18 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 5-6 at Sluggers, 60 Acme Road. Youth basketball
BANGOR — The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its 2013-2014 Youth Basketball Program. The eight-week program is open to children in grades two and three, and four and five, with separate boys and girls leagues. Teams will practice one evening per week and play games on Saturdays, starting the week of Dec. 20.
A meet and greet event will be held Dec. 6.
The fee for the program is $35 for Bangor residents and $45 others. A $10 late fee will be added after Dec 1.
