HARMONY, Maine — Somerset County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an attempted home invasion that led to one suspect being stabbed.

According to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster, officers were dispatched to a Highland Avenue home around 11 a.m. Monday when a home invasion was reported.

The homeowner told police that three people entered the residence, assaulted him and attempted to steal his property, Lancaster said.

The chief deputy added the homeowner also stated to police he was “defending himself” and allegedly stabbed one suspect several times, upon which the would-be robbers fled the scene.

During a follow-up investigation, deputies learned that a man had been seeking medical attention for stab wounds to his abdomen at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, Lancaster said, and police believe that is the man connected to the home invasion.

No arrests have been made in the case, but Lancaster is anticipating charges will be filed.
