BRUNSWICK, Maine — Police on Thursday identified the man whose body was found in the Androscoggin River Thursday as Clyde Bailey, 43, of Topsham.

The state medical examiner said Wednesday that Bailey drowned. Police have ruled out foul play, according to Brunswick Police Detective Bill Moir.

Bailey had been living in a tent on the Topsham side of the Androscoggin River, Topsham police said Wednesday. He was reported missing to Brunswick police on Oct. 9.

Topsham police, the Maine Warden Service and Maine State Police divers and cadaver dogs had searched the river since Friday, according to Sgt. Scott Dalton of the Maine State Police K9 Unit.

Bailey’s body was discovered Wednesday morning just upriver from the hydroelectric dam at Fort Andross by an employee of Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners, which operates the dam.
