BRADFORD, Maine — Emera Maine customers in four towns were without power for much of Thursday morning because of a motor vehicle accident.
According to Emera Maine’s website, about 268 customers in Bradford, Atkinson, Charleston and Orneville Township were in the dark at noon Thursday. As of 1 p.m., the outages had been rectified.
Bradford Fire Chief Dusty Kelley said the outages were caused after a pickup truck struck a utility pole on Route 11 about 8:40 a.m.
The driver of the pickup, whose name was not disclosed, did not suffer serious injuries, according to Kelley.
The driver was traveling south on Route 11, and his truck broke off a pole about a foot and a half above the bottom of the pole, Kelley said.
Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies also were at the scene of the accident.
