BRIDGTON, Maine — The Bridgton Police Department responded to a fatal accident on Route 302 just before 6 p.m. Sunday night.
Police Chief Kevin Schofield told CBS 13 the vehicle was driving south at a high rate of speed when attempting to pass another vehicle. The vehicle lost control and hit a tree.
Schofield said excessive speed is a contributing factor to the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Bridgton Hospital and treated for minor injuries, but police said the two passengers are dead.
