LOWELL, Mass. — Maine goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe recorded her seventh shutout of the season to lead the Black Bears to a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over the UMass Lowell River Hawks Sunday.
The Black Bears struck early in the second half. Eve L’Abbe had an initial shot that goalie Jill Carlson stopped, but the rebound came right back to L’Abbe and she fired it into the back of the net for her second game-winning goal of the season.
Dube-Trempe made two saves for Maine (4-7-5, 2-1-4 America East) and Carlson had six for the River Hawks (5-10-1, 2-4-1).
MMA 2, Thomas 1
At Waterville on Saturday, Morgan Libby headed in a goal on a cross from Briana Obshatkin in the 33rd minute to give Maine Maritime Academy the winning edge, 2-1.
MMA beat Pine Manor 6-0 Sunday in Castine.
On Saturday, Thomas took an early lead on Mary Grace Morris’ goal, but MMA equalized when Victoria Cooper converted an Obshatkin assist.
Paige Leary made four saves for Thomas and Kelsie Hilton had one for MMA.
On Sunday, Emily Wyman and Sarah Brochu each scored two goals to spark the Mariners. Peyton Ward and Lauren McKenna each added a goal for the Mariners.
Husson 2, UMF 1
At Farmington on Saturday, Taylor Fortin found Katie Cyr three minutes into overtime to give Husson the win.
Leah Hibbad gave Husson (9-5, 6-1 NAC) a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute when she took a pass from Lacey Kent-Webber and hit a rising shot.
Alexandra Crocker knotted the game at one for UMF (6-7, 5-2) in the 65th minute.
Jess Poulin made seven saves for Husson and Sam Hatch had nine for UMF.
UMF 4, UMPI 0
At Farmington on Sunday, Avalon Amador recorded two goals and two assists to propel UMaine-Farmington.
Keli McLellan and Sarah Pokorny each added a goal for UMF.
Allison Lopez made 15 saves for UMPI.

Husson splits weekend
At Farmington on Saturday, Stephen Berenyi scored two goals to help Husson beat UMaine-Farmington 4-1 and improve to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the North Atlantic Conference.
On Sunday, Wheaton blanked Husson 2-0.
Dylan Wetmore and Saker Ghanayem each added a goal for Husson while Alain Tuyishime and Berenyi each notched an assist. Brian Potter made one save.
Yusuf Yama scored for UMF (1-12-1, 1-5) in the 82nd minute and Ronnie Morales made 10 saves.
On Sunday, Wheaton’s Travis Blair and Amara Sesay each scored. Potter made 10 saves for Husson.
Thomas 3, MMA 1
At Waterville on Saturday, Khamisi Lightbourne and Tre Ming scored back-to-back goals in the second half to snap a 1-1 tie and give Thomas the victory.
Dakota Duplissie scored a first-half goal for Thomas (7-3-2, 4-1-1 NAC) and MMA tied it when Ike Doiron scored on a diving header from a Gabriel Warren pass early in the second half.
The Terriers then answered with the two goals.
Thomas outshot MMA 23-15 while the Mariners slipped to 7-6-1, 4-2-1.
Men’s Basketball
UMFK goes 2-1
At Fredericton, New Brunswick, the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals opened their season in the Ken Gould Invitational with an 86-64 win over Mount Allison on Friday and a 63-60 victory over St. Thomas on Saturday before dropping a 91-85 decision to King’s College on Sunday.
Joe McCloskey sparked the Bengals in the tourney, scoring 21 points on Friday and recording 23 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday. He notched another double-double on Sunday with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Field Hockey
Husson 2, Colby-Sawyer 0
At Bangor Saturday night, Husson (6-7, 4-0 NAC) clinched the top seed for the league tourney with the win over Colby-Sawyer (7-8, 1-3).
Libby Kain scored from a Mikayla Toth pass in the ninth minute for Husson and Kerianne Downing sealed the win in the 61st minute with her goal.
Jody Dumayne made 24 saves for Colby-Sawyer and Kaitlin Dolloff had one for Husson.
Maine 2, Northeastern 1
At Boston on Sunday, Annabelle Hamilton scored on a penalty stroke just under three minutes into overtime to lift No. 20 Maine by No. 15 Northeastern for its eighth straight victory.
Emma Lamison gave NU a 1-0 lead at the 8:10 mark of the first half, but Maine answered in the second half when Nicole Sevey scored 43:59 into the game with Becca Paradee and Hamilton assisting.
Emily Corbett finished with five saves on six shots for Maine (9-6) while Becky Gardner had five saves on seven shots for NU (11-3).
UMF 6, NEC 0
At Henniker, New Hampshire, on Saturday night, five different players scored a goal to lift UMaine-Farmington by New England College.
Delainey Kein, Sarita Crandall and Carly Raymond each scored a first-half goal for UMF (7-4). Crandall added her second goal in the second half, followed by goals from Mara Balboni and Emily Lewia.
Karlie Bove made 26 saves for NEC and Patty Smith had one for UMF.
