BRUNSWICK, Maine — Students at Brunswick Junior High School will soon be working with a new school resource officer after the retirement of Detective Mike Andreotti after 24 years at the end of October.
Brunswick police Officer Tom Stanton, a six-year veteran of the department, has been made a detective and assigned as the new school resource officer, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said.
Stanton is a member of the department’s honor guard and has worked with Brunswick-area youth for the past several years through Maine Special Olympics and as a mentor and volunteer on the annual YMCA-sponsored Freedom Tours.
Before joining the Brunswick Police Department, Stanton worked for the Lisbon Police Department.
Stanton’s first day at Brunswick Junior High School will be Nov. 3.
