ELLSWORTH, Maine — Seven people under the age of 21 are facing charges after police busted another underage drinking party over the weekend.
It is the second underage drinking bust in Ellsworth this month and the fourth in Ellsworth in the past three months.
On Saturday night, a few minutes before midnight, Ellsworth police received a tip that several underage people were drinking alcohol at a party on Maggie Way, according to a police incident summary report. Officers with the Ellsworth Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Maine State Police went to the location, which is in a residential development off Bucksport Road.
Five people were charged with possession of alcohol by consumption. They are:
— Matthew James, 20, of Hancock;
— Kayla Boucher, 19, of Hancock;
— Logan Bubar, 20, of Ellsworth;
— Teagen Colson, 19, of Ellsworth; and,
— Dylan Knowlton, 20, of Hancock.
Two other people have been charged as a result of the bust. Justin Kovacs, 23, and Byron Dill, 21, both of Ellsworth, each were arrested on a charge with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Dill also was charged with violating conditions of release, police indicated.
Police also busted local drinking parties at a home on Hallbrook Road on Oct. 11; at a residential property on Bayside Road near Pioneer Way on Sept. 16; and at a home on Garden Street on Aug. 3.
In all, police have issued a total of more than 50 charges in connection with the four drinking busts. Some defendants have been charged more than once, either for multiple offenses during one of the busts or because they were present at more than one of the gatherings, according to police summaries of the incidents.
