BANGOR — Phil Frost’s early goal on a penalty kick sparked Husson University to a 7-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Green Mountain College in men’s soccer action on Saturday.
Husson went on to edge Castleton State 3-2 on Sunday.
Cam Libbey, Charles Bujambi, Gage Kennedy, Saker Ghanavem, Saker Ghanayem and Jay Bishop all scored for the Eagles on Saturday. There also was an own goal.
Brian Potter made three saves for Husson.
On Sunday, Libbey scored two goals and Frost recorded a goal and two assists to propel the Eagles.
Spencer Dandurand and Bryce Kaler each scored a goal for Castleton.
Potter made seven saves for Husson (10-7, 7-2 NAC) and Amir Pasic made six for Castleton (8-9-1, 5-3-1).
MMA 6, GMC 1
At Castine on Sunday, Gabriel Warren scored two goals to lead the Mariners to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Eagles.
Tristan Richards, Henry Hersey, Jonathan Reeks and Christopher Gilman tallied a goal apiece for Maine Maritime Academy. Marshall Spear was not required to make a save.
Jordan Manikas scored the goal for Green Mountain College and Griffin Shelor made five saves.
Castleton 1, MMA 0
At Castine on Saturday, Owen Fellows scored in the ninth minute, accounting for the game-winner in the Spartans’ North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.
Amir Pasic made seven saves for Castleton State. Marshall Spear logged two saves for Maine Maritime Academy (7-7-1, 4-3-1 NAC).
UMF loses two
At Farmington on Saturday, Ronsard Masamba scored at the 74:19 mark to lift the Pilgrims to a NAC victory over the Beavers 2-1.
Austin Dooley scored off a Yusuf Yama assist for the University of Maine-Farmington Matt Wilson made saves.
On Sunday, Alex Ortega scored three goals to help Colby-Sawyer roll to a 6-0 win over UMF (1-15-1).
Ronie Morales saved nine shots for UMF.

At Fort Kent on Saturday, Ross Downie, Willie Monthe, Stefan Petricevic, Ben Klubers, Milton Christopher and Kennard Brown scored first-half goals as the Bengals beat the Owls in the annual Potato Barrel game.
University of Maine-Fort Kent keepers Jamie Cleland and Akheim Forbes did not face any shots.
UM-Presque Isle goalie Matt Manter made seven stops.
Women’s Soccer
Maine 1, Albany 1 (OT)
At Orono on Sunday, Kiana Rugar had a goal kick deflect off her and into the goal in the 79th minute, helping the Great Danes salvage an America East tie through two overtimes against the Black Bears.
Charlene Achille scored 8:39 into the contest off assists from Camille Varin-Tremblay and Ashley Robinson for the University of Maine (4-7-6, 2-1-5 AE), which earned the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament and will play at No. 4 Albany on Thursday.
Claudia Dube-Trempe made six saves for the Black Bears while Alana Brennan tallied eight saves for the Great Danes (6-8-5, 3-2-3 AE).
MMA splits
At Castine on Sunday, Briana Obshatkin’s goal off a Sarah Brochu cross in the 34th minute proved the game-winner for the Mariners in a NAC contest against the Eagles 3-1.
Brochu scored off a Victoria Cooper assist and Maine Maritime Academy also scored on an own goal. Kelsie Hilton made one save.
Martha Howe scored the goal and Kim Simonetti came up with six stops for GMC.
On Saturday, Sarah Carlson’s goal in the 19th minute was the game-winner as Castleton State beat MMA 4-1.
Briana Obshatikin netted the goal for MMA. Hilton made six saves.
Husson splits
At Bangor on Saturday, Leah Hibbad and Brooke LaBelle each scored a goal to pace Husson to a North Atlantic Conference victory over Green Mountain College 2-0.
Michaela Bicknell and Hibbad each added an assist for the hosts.
On Sunday, Mallory Costello’s goal off a Nicole Wershoven pass gave Castleton State a 2-1 double-overtime win over Husson (10-7, 7-2 NAC)
Michaela Bicknell gave the Eagles the lead in the 22nd minute when Lexi Crawford found her on the left side of the penalty box and Bicknell hit a rocket that was still rising as it went into the net.
A Costello goal tied it for Castleton (11-6-1, 7-1-1).
Jess Poulin made 12 saves for Husson and Jessica Binkowski had five for Castleton.
UMF ties, loses
At Farmington on Saturday, Sam Hatch made 11 saves to help the Beavers forge a North Atlantic Conference double-overtime tie against the New England College Pilgrims 0-0.
Tricia Sardagnola made seven saves for New England College.
On Sunday in Farmington, Kelsey Campbell recorded a goal and two assists to lead Colby-Sawyer by UMF 5-1.
Alexandra Crocker scored off an Avalon Amador assist for UMF and Thia Bridges made seven saves.
Field Hockey
Husson 8, NEC 0
At Bangor on Saturday, Libby Kain notched a hat trick to lead Husson by New England College.
Annika Durrell tallied two goals while Lindsey Arno, Elizabeth Terry and Melissa Souza notched one apiece for the Eagles (7-8, 5-0 NAC). Taylor Lovley provided two assists, while Mikayla Toth, Taylor Shaw and Arno added one each. Abby Greenleaf and Kaitlin Dolloff did not face any shots.
Michaela Clark amassed 28 saves for New England College (0-19, 0-5 NAC).

At Waterville on Saturday, Erica Blake’s goal in the seventh minute gave the Terriers all the offense they would need.
Taylor Bergeron scored in the second half for Thomas College (7-9, 4-1 NAC). Abbie Charrier came up with four saves.
Patricia Smith made eight stops for the University of Maine-Farmington (7-6, 3-2 NAC).
Women’s Hockey
Maine 4, Boston U. 2
At Orono on Saturday, the Black Bears erupted for three goals in a span of seven minutes in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and take a Hockey East victory over the sixth-ranked Terriers.
Emilie Brigham scored off a Morgan Sakundiak assist to get the run started, then Audra Richards scored less than a minute later off assists from Hailey Browne and Brittney Huneke. Richards then scored an empty-net tally with assists from Brooke Stacey and Sakundiak for the University of Maine (3-5-1, 2-1 HE). Meghann Treacy racked up 41 saves for the Black Bears, who also got a Kelsey MacSorley goal off a Jennifer More pass.
Rebecca Russo and Sarah Bayersdorfer scored for Boston University (4-2-1, 1-1 HE). Erin O’Neil made 26 saves.
