SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Police say they have identified the man who robbed a local Rite Aid on Wednesday afternoon.

Jason Walsh, 32, of Skowhegan, has been arrested, Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais said Thursday.

Walsh has been charged with robbery and stealing drugs, Blais said. He is being held at the Somerset County Jail.

The Rite Aid on Madison Avenue was robbed shortly after 3 p.m. when Walsh allegedly entered the store and demanded drugs, using a threat of force along with a note.

An undisclosed amount of prescription medication was taken, Blais said. Walsh was identified via surveillance video.

Somerset County sheriff’s deputies and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials assisted Skowhegan police.
