MONROE, Maine — A local couple are facing multiple charges in connection with thefts of items from Viking Lumber Co., according to police.

Ryan Weaver, 32, was taken into custody after officials searched his Back Brooks Road home on Thursday, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Also arrested was Weaver’s 31-year-old girlfriend, Maranda McCafferty, who also lives at the residence, McCausland said.

The search was the result of an employee theft investigation from Viking Lumber’s Lincolnville location, which started earlier this month, McCausland said.

Foundat Weaver’s home were stolen building materials, power tools and a lawn mower, McCausland said, while several chain saws had been recovered from pawn shops around the state. Weaver is a former employee of the company.

Weaver was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a hypodermic apparatus while McCafferty was charged with possession of Schedule W drugs and violation of conditions of release, McCausland said.

Both were taken to the Waldo County Jail.
