HAMPDEN — Fraternal twins Alexander and Colby Hollis, 17, sons of Greg and Laura Hollis of Hampden, attained the rank and distinction of Eagle Scout on June 2. Only 5 percent of Scouts obtain the rank of Eagle Scout.
As part of their Eagle Scout requirements, Alex earned 32 merit badges and Colby earned 31 merit badges.
For his Eagle Scout project, Alex built a picnic table canopy and picnic table for the Hampden
Congregational Church, which also houses the Hampden Food Cupboard.
The benefactor of Colby’s Eagle Scout Project was the Edythe Dyer Library in Hampden. For his Eagle Scout project, Colby constructed three park benches and refurbished seven library carts.
Both boys are members of Troop 41 in Hampden. Alex and Colby are senior’s at Hampden Academy. After graduation, Alex hopes to attend Maine Maritime Academy. Colby plans to join the U.S. Army as a medic.
An Eagle Scout ceremony honoring both boys was held in September.
