BANGOR, Maine — With thousands of Mainers without power Monday due to Sunday’s snowstorm, several warming facilities and shelters are available.
The Salvation Army announced Monday it will be serving free hot lunches to those without power at its Bangor location on French Street.
The lunches will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. all this week.
Bangor police announced later Monday the city’s Parks and Recreation building on Main Street will be open and providing hot beverages, snacks and phone access throughout the day.
Transportation will be provided for residents who need it and those needing a ride should call the police department at 947-7382.
Other warming shelters open throughout the state include the Appleton fire station, the Cushing town office, the Camden Congregational Church, the Hahn Center in Friendship, the Hope Fire Station, Rockland City Hall, the Tenants Harbor Fire Station, Watts Hall in Thomaston, the Union Fire Department, the Warren Town Office, the Gibbs Library in Washington, the Levant fire station, Etna Community Hall, the Bar Harbor fire department, Newburgh Town Hall, Hermon Baptist Church, Bremen Fire Department, the Damariscotta Town Office, Edgecomb Fire Department, Waldoboro Fire Department, Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle, Trenton town office, and town offices in Islesboro and Stockton Springs.
