CASTLETON, Vermont — Sarah Carlson’s first-half goal proved the only offense Castleton State needed on Wednesday evening as the second-seeded Spartans shut out No. 3 Husson University of Bangor 4-0 in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals.

Mallory Costello scored two second-half goals for Castleton State (12-7-1), while Nicole Wershoven netted one. Jessica Binkowski made three saves.

The Spartans travel to top-seeded Colby-Sawyer for Saturday’s league championship game.

Jess Poulin registered nine saves for the Eagles, who closed out their season at 12-8.

Albany CPHS 5, Unity 0

At Charleston, West Virginia, Sarah Cope scored two goals to power the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences past Unity College in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament.

Nicole Burline, Gabrielle Palumbo and Katie Parsels scored a goal each for the 12-5 winners, while Amy Jagareski and Kennedy Rives combined to make one save.

Sierra Marchacos made six saves for 9-5 Unity.

UM-Machias 1, PSB 0

At Charleston, West Virginia, Wilson Juma scored an unassisted goal 1:32 into the second overtime period, lifting the Clippers to victory over Penn State Brandywine in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament.

Robert Devone made six saves for the University of Maine-Machias (13-2), which plays top-seeded UMaine-Fort Kent on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Patrick O’Neill made four saves for Penn State Brandywine.

Field Hockey

Anna Maria 1, Saint Joseph’s 0

At Standish, Kyle Dalbec broke a scoreless tie in the 54th minute while scoring her 21st goal of the season to lift No. 4 Anna Maria College to a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Saint Joseph’s College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference semifinal win.

Nichole Lowe had an assist for the AMCATS (13-8) and Mary Kate Breen came up with eight saves.

Emma Astbury made one save for the Monks, who closed out the campaign at 14-3.
