LEWISTON, Maine — Two men accused of dealing crack cocaine out of a Super 8 Motel for at least a month are behind bars after a drug bust Friday morning, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Joshua Bonnett, 23, and Marquis Aiken, 22, both from Brooklyn, New York, were arrested and charged Friday with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs after MDEA agents searched the motel room they were in and found “scales, drug packaging materials, marijuana, and 290 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $30,000,” Stephen McCausland said in a Saturday morning statement.

Agents also seized $1,200 in suspected drug proceeds from the room inside the Super 8 Motel, located at 1440 Lisbon St. The MDEA has been investigating drug trafficking out of area motels for the past month, McCausland said.

“Aiken is known to MDEA agents in Lewiston from a previous felony drug arrest in the city,” he said. “That case is currently pending and still under investigation.”

Aiken and Marquis were taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, and bail was set at $25,000 each. Both are scheduled to go before a judge Nov. 10.
