ROCKLAND, Maine — Dollar Tree plans to open a store next summer in Rockland, according to a company spokeswoman.
The company plans to open on Camden Street in space next to Ocean State Job Lot. The opening is expected in about July, spokeswoman Chelle Davis said Monday.
The company will lease about 10,000 square feet in what had been the Wal-Mart store in Rockland. Ocean State purchased the property last year and opened in March 2014. It occupies 40,000 square feet of the complex.
The store will employ 12 to 15 people as well as managers, Davis said.
“We’re excited about expanding to Rockland,” she said.
There are more than 5,000 Dollar Tree stores in the lower 48 states as well as five provinces in Canada. She said anyone interested in working at the store can apply online at the company’s website or stop in any other Dollar Tree store for an application.
