WINTERPORT, Maine — One day after a woman was injured by a car while jogging on Boston Road in Winterport, police continued to dig for information about the driver.

The 27-year-old woman was jogging at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday when she was grazed by a vehicle coming toward her, according to Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

“It was not even enough to knock her down, but it grazed her hip and apparently injured her ankle,” Trundy said Wednesday.

The jogger described the vehicle that hit her as being small, gray and driven by what appeared to be a younger driver with short hair, he said. The woman was taken by Winterport Ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment.

Trundy said after hearing the description of the vehicle, the deputy was able to find one in the area that looked similar, but it is too soon to be certain whether it is the same car. He said the vehicle may have brushed the jogger so lightly that the impact did not damage the car. Additionally, it is not clear right whether the driver knew he or she injured the jogger.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office at 338-2040.
