MONTICELLO, Maine — A Presque Isle woman was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries following a late-night, two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 1 in Monticello, according to the Maine State Police.
Sgt. Brian Harris on Wednesday morning said Patricia Perkins, 35, of Presque Isle, was traveling north in her 2002 Saturn car when she drifted over the centerline into the path of 29-year-old Michael Trader of New York, who was heading south in a 2014 Toyota passenger car.
Harris said Trader was unable to avoid Perkins’ car and the two struck head-on.
The Monticello Fire Department used its jaws of life to free Perkins from her car and she was transported first to Houlton Regional Hospital and subsequently transferred to EMMC with serious internal injuries, Harris said. There was no further information available on her condition Wednesday morning.
Trader was not injured in the accident and both vehicles were declared a total loss.
