ROCKLAND, Maine — The city council is expected to begin interviewing candidates next month for its city manager job.
And the consultant hired by the city has passed on the names of six candidates.
The city council held a conference call Monday night with its consultant Rick Dacri of Dacri & Associates of Kennebunkport.
Councilor-elect William Clayton is chairing the city manager search committee which will consist of city councilors. Councilor Eric Hebert, whose term expires Monday night, will remain on the search committee.
Clayton said interviews will begin no earlier than Dec. 1. The council and Hebert will meet Monday night to decide which candidates to interview. He said Dacri has passed on the names of six people he considers to be a good fit for Rockland.
Clayton and Mayor Larry Pritchett said they do not know how many people submitted applications for the job through Dacri, but Pritchett said the consultant reported that he spoke to more than 100 people about the position.
Finance Director Tom Luttrell has been serving as interim city manager since James Smith resigned in December 2013. Luttrell declined to say last week whether he has applied for the manager job on a more long-term basis.
