ROCKLAND, Maine — A local 36-year-old man is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Friday on a charge that he assaulted a Rockland man with a pool cue.

Gerald W. Hews Jr., formerly of Port Clyde but now listing an address of Rockland, was arrested Nov. 1 on charges of aggravated criminal trespass and assault.

Hews illegally entered the victim’s residence and assaulted him with the pool stick, according to the complaint filed in Knox County Superior Court. Rockland Deputy Police Chief Wally Tower said the assault was the result of a dispute over a woman. The victim did not require a trip to the hospital, Tower said.

Hews was released on $500 cash bail the same day of his arrest. Bail conditions bar him from having contact with the victim or with the woman listed in the court documents.
