LIMINGTON, Maine — A 16-year-old girl who was hit by a car Friday evening while walking on Route 11 suffered multiple injuries, but police said none are considered life-threatening.
The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the hit-and-run incident that happened at about 5:30 p.m., near the intersection of the River Road, according to a media release from Chief Deputy William L. King, Jr.
The girl was hit by a northbound vehicle and was tossed in a ditch after the impact. Limington Fire and Rescue responded and brought her to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment, King said.
King said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and police are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and driver. Deputies are searching for a 2007-2012 GMC, Chevrolet sport utility vehicle or pickup truck, or a Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle is expected to show right-side or front-end damage, be missing the passenger side rear view mirror and possibly be missing a right headlight.
