UMFK 73, UMM 72

At Fort Kent on Saturday, Jake Rioux’s 3-pointer with 3:39 left capped a 19-8 scoring run that lifted the Bengals to victory over the Clippers.

Qaadir Ali scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half for the University of Maine-Fort Kent. Joe McCloskey posted 16 points and seven rebounds with four assists, Marquis Glenn tallied 11 points and nine rebounds and Rioux finished with nine points.

Antwan Ruise led UMaine-Machias with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Floyd Higgins and Brandon Blakely contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Bates 74, Husson 65

At Bangor on Saturday, the Bobcats used a 14-point, second-half run en route to a win over the Eagles at Newman Gym.

Graham Safford led Bates College of Lewiston (3-0) with 13 points and Marcus Delpeche and Mike Boornazian provided 11 points each.

Eli Itkin paced Husson (1-1) with 12 points while Raheem Anderson tossed in 13. Matt Talbot added 10 points and Jacob Moore chipped in with nine.

Colby 80, Endicott 69

At Waterville on Saturday, Chris Hudnut scored 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds while notching five assists on the way to tournament MVP honors while leading the Mules to victory in the championship game of the Colby Classic.

Luke Westman connected for a game-high 25 points and had four assists to earn an all-tourney spot for Colby (3-1). Ryan Jann finished with 12 points and six rebounds and Connor O’Neil added nine points, three steals and three assists.

All-tourney pick John Henault scored 24 points to propel Endicott (2-1). Kamahl Walker scored 14 points and Andre Makris added 10.

Women’s Basketball

St. Joseph’s 60, MMA 46

At Standish on Saturday, Abbie Eastman tallied 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Monks beat the Mariners.

Morgan Cahill totaled 12 points and eight rebounds, Emily Kehoe added 12 points and Sarah Assante contributed nine points for 4-0 Saint Joseph’s.

Maine Maritime Academy (1-2) fell to Saint Joseph’s College (4-0)

For Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (1-2), Mackenzie Vosburgh scored a game-high 15 points with seven boards, Mary Badeen recorded 13 points and Kristi Willey added eight points and six rebounds.

UMFK 84, UMM 30

At Fort Kent on Saturday, the Bengals held the Clippers to nine first-half points and breezed to victory.

Danielle Carrillo led the UMaine-Fort Kent attack with 15 points, Sabrina Head tallied 11 points and 6 rebounds and Sam Carapellucci notched 10 points and 9 rebounds. Ericka Saucier had 8 points and 9 rebounds while Kayla Richards dished out 7 assists.

Brooklynne Lewis led the UMaine-Machias with 12 points and four assists.

Colby 54, Wellesley 53

At Waterville on Sunday, Caitlyn Nolan scored a collegiate-high 26 points and Colby held off a furious Wellesley College rally for a win on the second day of the Colby Classic.

Colby (4-0) surged to a 13-point lead in the second half, but Wellesley (2-3) cut it 54-53 when Morgyne Weaver hit one of two free throws with 4.3 seconds left. Wellesley missed a shot at the buzzer after Colby failed to convert a 1-and-1.

Weaver paced Wellesley with 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Field Hockey

Bowdoin falls in national final

At Lexington, Virginia, The College of New Jersey scored a pair of first-half goals and held off a furious second-half rally by Bowdoin to win the NCAA Division III championship on Sunday 2-0 at Washington & Lee University.

The defending national champion Polar Bears finished at 19-3 and dropped the national-title match for the first time in five tries. TCNJ finished at 23-1 and won its national-record 11th Division III crown and first since 2011.

Jaclyn Douglas scored for TCNJ in the 28th minute and Erin Healy added a second goal five minutes later when she got her stick on shot from Lexi Smith.

Bowdoin had a 16-7 shots advantage with Kelly Schlupp making six saves for TCNJ and Hannah Gartner had one for Bowdoin.

Bowdoin advanced with a 2-1 semifinal win over Salisbury on Saturday when Mettler Growney’s goal at 22:55 of the first half provided the eventual winning margin.

Rachel Kennedy also scored an unassisted first-half goal for Bowdoin College of Brunswick and Hannah Gartner made two saves.

Becca Rinaca scored on a rebound for Salisbury (19-2). Rachel Clewer made 10 saves.

Men’s Hockey

Bowdoin 6, Colby 3

At Waterville on Saturday, Connor Quinn registered a hat trick as the Polar Bears beat the Mules in a NESCAC contest.

Brendan Conroy, Kendall Culbertson and Matthew Lison tallied a goal apiece for Bowdoin College of Brunswick (3-0-1). Peter Cronin amassed 39 saves.

E.J. Rauseo, Mario Benicky and Cam MacDonald scored a goal apiece for Colby (0-3-1). Emerson Verrier logged 30 saves.

Women’s Hockey

Bowdoin 1, Colby 0

At Brunswick, Maryanne Iodice scored her first career goal with 9:13 to go in the third period to lift Bowdoin College to a NESCAC win over Colby at Watson Arena.

Lan Crofton made 30 saves for the Polar Bears (2-0).

Angelica Crites racked up 38 saves for the 0-4 Miles.
