Maine Fiberarts shows
PORTLAND — Christine Macchi, director of Maine Fiberarts Topsham, announced that two shows of contemporary fiber work will be on display through Friday, Dec. 19, at the Glickman Family Library Reading Room (seventh floor) at the University of Southern Maine Portland. The free exhibit features the work of 30 artists, all chosen to fit within the wooden cabinet exhibit space created by Thomas Moser. Since the cabinets are 6 inches tall by 24 feet long, the pieces are short and sculptural, featuring netted june bugs, stitched landscapes, felted books, tatted bamboo and much more.
The second Maine Fiber Arts show will take place through Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the organization’s Topsham gallery, 13 Main St. It features members’ works that are available for purchase, including woven, hooked, felted, crocheted items, and much more.
