BIDDEFORD, Maine — Police have issued warrants for the arrest of a 26-year-old Biddeford man who allegedly ran over and killed his mother Sunday afternoon near his home on Brackett Street.
Shane Robert Jones is wanted on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury or fatal accident and reckless conduct with a motor vehicle, according to a news release posted on the Biddeford Police Department Facebook page.
Preliminary reports by crash reconstructionists allegedly indicate that Jones ran over 49-year-old Kimberly Jones as he was leaving his home about 5:15 p.m. Sunday and then fled. Police have been searching for him since and believe he left the state.
Police believe Jones is traveling in a maroon-colored Chevrolet S10 with the license plate number 9840 TR, according to the release.
Jones is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 155 pounds.
In 2007, Kimberly and Shane Jones were arrested together and charged with felony burglary in connection with a series of car break-ins.
Shane Jones later inadvertently was released from the York County Jail after he pretended to be someone else. He quickly was found and charged with escape and aggravated forgery.
Police ask anyone with information on Jones’ whereabouts to call 282-5127.
