DUDLEY, Massachusetts — Trevon Butler recorded 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists to power the Husson University Eagles by the Nichols College Bison 81-73 in men’s basketball action Monday night.
Butler scored four points during a pivotal 8-1 run over four minutes that gave Husson a 55-49 lead with 9:02 left in the game. The Eagles of Bangor increased their lead to as much as 11 and never trailed the rest of the way.
Raheem Anderson chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Eagles. Jacob Moore added 13 points and five rebounds and Matt Talbot contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Eagles outrebounded the Bison 38-31.
Irving Eggleston sparked Nichols with 23 points, Matt Langadas added 13 and Christian Horton put in 10.
UMM 96, EMCC 78
At Machias, the UMaine-Machias Clippers outscored the Eastern Maine Community College Eagles 65-45 in the second half after trailing by two at halftime to take the victory.
Ivory Sneed sparked the Clippers with 19 points and nine rebounds while Ben Teer chipped in with 17 points and three assists. Tyler Rubin added 13 points and three assists.
Keyshawn Hampton poured in 26 points to lead EMCC and added six rebounds and four assists. Keyon Keys added 19 points while Everett Fields contributed 18 points and six rebounds.
St. Joseph’s 54, UMF 34
At Standish, the Monks held the UMaine-Farmington Beavers to a 27.5 shooting percentage from the floor (14 of 51) to grind out the victory.
Steve Simonds and Craig Luschenat each scored 11 points to lead St. Joe’s (1-2), with Simonds also recording 10 rebounds and three steals. Andrew Ruffen added 10 points and Zach Blodgett contributed seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
St. Joe’s outrebounded UMF 40-31.
Logan Nichols led UMF (0-3) with eight points and Uriah Forest-Bulley had seven rebounds.
Women’s Basketball
St. Joseph’s 69, UM-Farmington 37
At Standish, unbeaten St. Joseph’s rolled to a 45-17 halftime lead en route to its fifth victory.
Morgan Cahill sparked the Monks with 12 points and seven rebounds. Hayley Quiron chipped in with 12 points and Abbie Eastman added nine. Molly Mack and Emily Kehoe each contributed eight points.
Kennadi Grover paced UMF (0-4) with 12 points and five rebounds. Elizabeth Ferry added 10 points and seven rebounds while Meghan Smith chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.
St. Joe’s outrebounded UMF 56-33 and scored 31 points off 22 UMF turnovers.
UMPI 66, EMCC 22
At Johnston Gym in Bangor, the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls held the Eastern Maine Community College Golden Eagles to 11 points in each half to take the win.
Darby Toth, Brianna Losee and Rebecca Campbell each scored 14 points to lead UMPI. Toth also recorded six assists and five steals.
Morgan Card sparked EMCC with eight points and nine rebounds while Bobbie-Lynne Chambers added six points and eight rebounds.
Bates 80, UMM 32
At Machias, guard Lyse Henshaw scored a game-high 12 points in a team-high 25 minutes of playing time as the Bates College Bobcats rolled by the University of Maine-Machias Clippers.
Molly Brown added 11 points for Bates (4-2) and Bernadette Connors added eight points and three steals.
Bates led at the half 45-14.
Brooklynne Lewis and Alicen Brooks each scored seven points for UMM (1-5).
