BANGOR, Maine — A local woman was indicted Tuesday by the Penobscot County grand jury after allegedly fracturing the skull of her 4-month-old son on Oct. 4.

Darcy Henderson-Keaton, 32, of Bangor was indicted on one count of assault on a child younger than 6 years old, a Class C crime.

The boy, now nearly 6 months old, is recovering from the injury, according to Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County.

“The child’s baby sitter called police after observing what she thought were scratches on the baby’s head,” he said.

How the injury occurred was not available Tuesday.

Henderson-Keaton has not been arrested.

An arraignment date has not been set.

If convicted, Henderson-Keaton faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

The grand jury, which usually convenes on the fourth Wednesday of the month, met Tuesday because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The men were arrested in September and have remained jailed since then. Carlos Ramirez is being held at the Penobscot County Jail and Lazaro Ramirez is being held at the Piscataquis County Jail in Dover-Foxcroft. They allegedly were supplying heroin to two men in Washington County.

It could not be determined late Tuesday if the men are related.
