BATH, Maine — A 54-year-old Bath man is wanted by police for failing to register as a sex offender and for allegedly violating Maine’s “Peeping Tom” law this fall.

Stephen McIntire was convicted of gross sexual assault in 1997, according to a release from Bath Police Detective David Beauregard. McIntire also was convicted of invasion of privacy in 2004.

As a result of his sex offender conviction, McIntire is required to register as a sex offender with local police for the rest of his life, but according to Beauregard’s release, he has not registered since August.

He also allegedly “peeped” in windows on the Hyde School campus on several days in late October and early November.

In one case, a hidden video camera allegedly captured photos of McIntire looking in the window.

McIntire is wanted on a warrant charging failure to comply with the sex offender notification act, violation of privacy and criminal trespass.

Anyone with information about McIntire’s whereabouts is asked to call Bath Police detectives at 443-8367.
