WATERVILLE, Maine — Chris Hudnet recorded 25 points, eight rebounds and three steals to propel the Colby College Mules by the Thomas College Terriers 103-68 in men’s basketball action Tuesday night at Thomas’ Larry Mahaney Gym.
Hudnut nailed 9 of 9 free throws and hit 8 of 10 shots from the field to spark the Mules (4-1). Sam Willson chipped in with 15 points on a 6-for-6 effort from the field. Connor O’Neil added 13 points and Ryan Jann put in 11.
Levi Barnes paced Thomas (1-5) with 22 points, four assists and three steals while Eric Westbrooks chipped in with 20 points.
Colby outrebounded Thomas 39-18.
Women’s Basketball
Colby 92, Thomas 28
At Larry Mahaney Gym on the Thomas campus in Waterville, the Colby Mules steamrolled to a 47-9 first-half lead en route to the win.
Carylanne Wolfington finished with 19 points to lead Colby (4-0) and Caitlyn Nolan added 18. Marykate Caverly chipped in with 16 points, Brooke Chandor netted 12 and Kate Parsons put in 10.
Ashleigh Gagne scored nine points to lead Thomas (0-3) and Julie Suaudeau grabbed 10 rebounds.
UNE 68, Bowdoin 64
At Biddeford, the University of New England rallied from a late deficit with under four minutes remaining to defeat Bowdoin.
UNE (3-1) was sparked by 21 points off the bench from Alanna Vose, who went 6 for 10 from three-point range. Bowdoin (3-2) was paced by 19 points from Sara Binkhorst and 18 from Shannon Brady.
Bowdoin closed UNE’s lead to a single possession on three occasions over the closing moments, including following a Sara Binkhorst jumper with six seconds to go. But the Nor’easters converted 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the final 38 seconds to seal the win.
Bowdoin held a 46-32 edge in rebounding, but committed 19 turnovers.
