SALEM TOWNSHIP, Maine — A Corinna man and a 17-year-old boy are facing charges in connection with the theft of multiple firearms from a Franklin County residence, according to Maine State Police.

David Ireland, 53, was arrested earlier this week, and the juvenile was charged but not arrested, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Both are charged with burglary and theft.

Ireland was scheduled to appear in court in Farmington later Wednesday, McCausland said. The teen’s court date has not been set.

Last week, Newport police Lt. Randy Wing got a tip that Ireland had pawned one of 11 stolen firearms at a pawn shop in that town, according to McCausland, and the gun was turned over to state police.

A search of Ireland’s home did not reveal the missing guns, and troopers continue to search for the weapons, McCausland said.

Anyone with information on the missing guns should call state police in Augusta at 624-7076.
