BANGOR, Maine — The snowstorm that hit New England on Wednesday has resulted in the realignment of the University of Maine’s scheduled women’s basketball tournament.

Wright State University of Dayton, Ohio, one of four teams scheduled to participate Friday and and Saturday in the Black Bear Thanksgiving Classic, will not be able to make the trip.

According to the Wright State athletics website, the Raiders had been scheduled to depart for Bangor on Wednesday morning. Instead, the team’s outbound flight was canceled because of the weather and the school was unable to reschedule flights for Thanksgiving day.

The development leaves UMaine, Boston College and Brown to compete in what has been changed from a two-day tournament to a three-day event scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The new schedule pits Brown against Boston College on Friday at 3 p.m. UMaine takes on Brown Saturday at 1 p.m., then the Black Bears will face Boston College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Admission to the Boston College-Brown game will be free, while fans are asked to use Friday’s ticket for Saturday’s game and Saturday’s ticket for Sunday’s contest, if possible. However, either ticket will be honored for a weekend game.
