SANFORD, Maine — A Biddeford man wanted for allegedly killing his mother was arrested in nearby Sanford on Friday, police said.

Shane Jones, 26, was taken into custody by Biddeford police early Friday afternoon, according to a posting on the department’s Facebook page.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jones by Biddeford police after he allegedly ran down and killed his mother Sunday.

The incident that claimed the life of Jones’ 49-year-old mother, Kimberly, occurred near Jones’ Brackett Street home.

Kimberly Jones was hit as her son was leaving the residence in the early-evening hours of Nov. 23, and he subsequently fled.

Jones has a criminal history. He and his mother were arrested in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries 2007 and charged with burglary. Later on, the younger Jones accidentally was released from the York County Jail after he masqueraded as somebody else, but he was captured quickly and charged with escape and aggravated forgery.

Further details on Jones’ arrest Friday weren’t immediately available.
