‘Proof’
BANGOR — Husson University’s student-run theater company will perform the Tony and Pulitzer Prize award-winning play, “Proof” Friday through Sunday, Dec. 5-7.
“Proof” is the story of Catherine, the daughter of Robert, a brilliant but mentally disturbed mathematician. When her father dies, Catherine tries to come to grips with her possible inherited insanity.
Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5-6, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $3 students, $5 others. Seating is limited.

Art Factory family fun
BANGOR — The University of Maine Museum of Art invites families to its seventh annual Art Factory: Free Family Fun Day 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the museum. A variety of art-making stations will be set up for those of all ages to create a card, ornament or gift. Supplies are free and staff will be available to assist families throughout the day.
Art Factory is held in conjunction with several holiday, family-friendly activities downtown.

Improv class
BANGOR — Penobscot Theatre Company is registering adults and older teens for a new class on improvisational technique and performance. Classes will take place 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 7, and running through Wednesday, Feb. 25, the the theater.
Director of Education Amy Roeder designed the program for beginners and those who have some experience with improvisation, building on the company’s earlier adult improv offerings and recognizing burgeoning interest in the community.
Leading the theater’s first session of adult improv classes will be Jennifer Shepard, co-owner, resident performing artist and instructor at ImprovAcadia in Bar Harbor. She also teaches at The College of the Atlantic. She has performed in Chicago at iO (formerly Improv Olympic), The Annoyance, and The Playground; and on Norweigan Cruise Lines for The Second City Theatricals. Since moving to Maine she has taught at the Beth Wright Cancer Center, on the outer islands for the Sea Coast Mission, Maine Storytellers Muster and the Rainbow Meeting. She also performs with Capital City Improv in Augusta.

‘The Nutcracker’
ELLSWORTH — The Grand announced the return of a holiday tradition when The Robinson
Ballet of Bangor will perform the Tchaikovsky classic “The Nutcracker” on the Stanley Subaru Stage at The Grand.
Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.
Tickets are $16, $14 members, $11 children 12 and under.
