FREEPORT, Maine — The Cumberland landscaping company that employed a man killed in an industrial accident in June will not be sanctioned by the federal government.

After an investigation into the man’s death, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration cleared Coastal Lawncare Inc., OSHA area director Maryann Medeiros said Wednesday.

The company, also known as Coastal Landscape, Construction and Snow Services, is owned by Craig Wright.

Scott W. MacDonald, 59, of Limington was killed the morning of June 10 while working with two other men to replace granite steps that led to the lower level of the building at 136-140 Main St., which houses Olympia Sports, Subway and Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro.

MacDonald was assisting the operator of a Bobcat skid steer loader, who was moving slabs of granite, when the forks of the forklift dropped, Freeport police said at the time.

MacDonald died instantly.

Medeiros said OSHA issued no citations for the incident and has closed the investigation.
