SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Local police are seeking a man who robbed another man of money and a cellphone Thursday night.

Skowhegan Police Chief Ted Blais said police were called to an area of Poplar Street shortly before 8 p.m.

The victim was exiting his vehicle when the robber approached, demanding money and the cellphone, according to Blais.

Police did not disclose how much cash was taken. The suspect fled on foot toward Waterville Road, Blais said.

A K9 unit from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office responded to track the suspect, but he was not located.

The man is facing robbery and theft charges if caught, Blais said.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Skowhegan police at 474-6386.
