LEWISTON, Maine — The body of a 26-year-old Air Force veteran missing since Saturday night has been found in a Lewiston bird sanctuary, the Sun Journal reports.

Dustin Hadfield appears to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Lt. Michael McGonagle of the Lewiston Police Department told the Sun Journal. Police had been searching for Hadfield since Sunday. He was found Thursday at Thorncraig Bird Sanctuary, about 50 feet from the parking lot.

Police told the newspaper that it appeared Hadfield’s body had been there since he went missing on Saturday. Hadfield’s brother, Adam Hadfield, told the Sun Journal that Dustin had been at a party with friends on Saturday night before disappearing.
