BANGOR AND WEST ENFIELD – James Orin Ricker, 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ, on December 16,2014. Jim was born on July 15, 1921, in West
Enfield, Maine to Orin and Mary (Gibson) Ricker. Jim graduated from
Howland High School in 1939. He went to the CCC camp for 1 ½ years.
In September of 1942, he entered the U.S. Army proudly serving his
country in the European and Pacific theaters. He was honorably
discharged in February of 1946. He married Agnes Anne Olson of Oakfield
on January 8, 1955. Jim served as the Postmaster of West Enfield from
February 1955 to June of 1984. Jim was a very active member of the West
Enfield Baptist Church since 1951 serving as a deacon and trustee. Jim
was a board member of the River of Life Bible Camp and a Life Member of
the West Enfield VFW. Jim went above and beyond to help others
throughout his entire life, and truly felt that was his calling.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, his sister, Jane Nash and sister-in-
law, Charlotte Olson. He is survived by his son and wife, David and
Carlene Ricker and his two beloved grandchildren, Katie and Aaron
Ricker as well as a sister, Agnes Kays of Idaho, brother-in-law, Donald
Olson of Colorado Springs, and many special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the West Enfield
Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Jim in a special way may make
