Fort Kent alumni games to tip off Dec. 27
FORT KENT — Fort Kent Community High School is holding alumni basketball games on Saturday, Dec. 27.
The women’s ‘game is 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m. Area youth teams will play at halftime.
Alumni will be asked to pay $20 in support of FKCHS varsity basketball. The fee will include a T-shirt.

UMaine’s Hamilton gains ECAC honor
University of Maine senior Annabelle Hamilton has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Field Hockey All-Star team.
Hamilton finished her career at Maine with 107 points. She also started every game she appeared in during her four-year career.
The past two seasons she has earned the highest honor one can receive in Division I field hockey and was named to the Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-American squad.
Rangers sign goalie Talbot to extension
The New York Rangers and goaltender Cam Talbot agreed to a contract extension Friday.
No terms were released, but the New York Post reported the deal is a one-year, $1.45 million extension through the 2015-16 season. Talbot, 27, is in the final season of his current contract.
Talbot has appeared in seven games this season, with a 2-3-1 record, a 2.34 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and two shutouts.
Vikings’ linebacker Barr done for season
Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr will have season-ending knee surgery, coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Friday.
Barr, who was the ninth pick in the draft this year, missed the last two games with the injury, which Zimmer called a “slight meniscus tear.”
Zimmer called the procedure “very minor.”
Barr finished his rookie season with four sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.
Flyers goalie Mason suffers injury in practice
Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason needed to be helped from the ice with an apparent injury during practice Friday.
The Philadelphia Daily News reported that Mason required assistance to the locker room at Wells Fargo Center, where the Flyers will play Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mason is 6-10-5 this season with a .921 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average.
Since joining the Flyers for the 2012-13 season, Mason is 43-30-12 with a .920 save percentage and a 2.45 goals-against average in 90 games played.
Ray Emery is the team’s backup. He would most likely play Saturday if Mason is unavailable.
