FREEPORT, Maine — An apartment building was heavily damaged by fire Saturday morning in Freeport, though firefighters said no one was injured.
The investigation into the cause of the fire on Unity Lane in Freeport continues after crews from several towns responded around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The fire started in a kitchen on the first floor of the four-unit apartment building and moved quickly, according to CBS 13’s Jared Pelletier.
Fire alarms alerted people inside the building, and four families have been displaced by the fire. One cat died from smoke inhalation, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
