DOVER, New Hampshire — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that a shooting in a patient’s room at a Dover, New Hampshire, hospital appears to be a murder-suicide.
The incident occurred at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital at approximately 6 a.m., according to a statement posted on the hospital’s website.
The attorney general’s office says shots were fired in a critical care unit. A man and his wife were found dead inside. Authorities have not identified them.
“The incident was isolated to the patient room and no other patients, family members or employees were harmed,” according to the hospital statement.
A hospital spokesperson says the hospital is open to the public and operating normally.
“This was a tragic event,” the hospital’s message states. “Our priorities now are to continue to deliver care to our patients and support our staff. We are have resources available to support our patients, staff and their family members during this difficult time.”
