PORTLAND, Maine — Police have arrested a Brunswick couple following their indictment by a Cumberland County grand jury for allegedly selling oxycodone and heroin.

Randi Salley, 35, and Eddie Heard, 40, were indicted in early December. The two were arrested Tuesday evening at the New Meadows Motel on Bath Road, where they were living.

Salley is charged with two counts of Class A felony aggravated trafficking in drugs. Heard is charged with two counts of Class B felony trafficking in drugs, according to the indictments. The crimes allegedly took place in September and October in Brunswick.

Salley faces the more serious charges because she is on probation for a prior drug conviction, according to Brunswick Police Detective Rich Cutliffe. Heard is also a convicted felon, but not of a drug crime.

“During an investigation over the past three or four months, we were provided with multiple accounts from several different sources that [Salley and Heard] were trafficking in illegal drugs,” Cutliffe said Wednesday. “With the use of an informant, or informants, we were able to make several controlled purchases of heroin and prescription pain pills.”

Asked if the arrests are part of a larger drug investigation, Cutliffe said, “Every conviction we make for drug trafficking in the town of Brunswick is always a part of a larger investigation.”

Salley remained in Cumberland County Jail, pending a hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Heard was released on bail. Details of his bail conditions and court date were not immediately available.
